Review – Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Premiere Week

(via ABC.com)

Dancing with the Stars is BACK!  Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!

I love Dancing with the Stars, full disclosure, I had never watched it until last season.  I’m happy with Rumer and Val’s win but I was #teamrallison all.the.way.  Anywho, Season 21 premiered on September 14th which was twelve whole days ago and yes, I’m just now reviewing.  So since I’ve already wasted twelve days not doing it, lets get started!

Okay so we have our celeb/pro teams and they are as follows: American hero Alek Skarlatos with Lindsay Arnold, “Spy Kids” actress Alexa PenaVega with Mark Ballas, “Honey I’m Good” singer Andy Grammer with Allison Holker, Bindi Irwin with Derek Hough, Big Time Rush singer Carlos PenaVega with Witney Carson, musical icon Chaka Khan with Keo Motsepe, Actor Gary Busey with Anna Trebunskaya, Social media sweetheart Hayes Grier with Emma Slater, RHOA’s Kim Zolciak-Biermann with Tony Dovolani, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter with Sharna Burgess, Paula Deen with Louis van Amstel, Tamar Braxton with Val Chmerkovskiy, Victor Espinoza with Karina Smirnoff.

I was so excited for this season to start.  I love Tamar Braxton and I was so happy she was partnered with Val!!  Other pairings I looked forward to were Allison and Andy, Chaka Khan with Keo and Nick and Sharna.  So week one was very interesting.  There were some highs and some real lows.  Highlights included

Bindi and Derek’s Jive:

Hayes and Emma’s Chacha which included a little Nae Nae, lol:

There were also some really low, lows.  Chaka Khan performed horribly and to her own song!  It was extremely disappointing.  Other low scorers were Paula Deen and Kim Zolciak-Biermann, who received the lowest score of the night with just 12 out of 30.  Ouch!  Tuesday night we basically just got a recap of the night before with extra audio we normally  don’t hear.  Nothing much to report there.  Everyone moves on to Week 2!
I felt Alek and Tamar deserved higher scores, they should have gotten 24’s as Nick and Bindi did but at least they all did well.  Overall it was a good premier week; the first few weeks have lots of cringeworthy moments because everyone is still so new to dancing but I am looking forward to what else will be put out there for us in the coming weeks!
