They sure know how to keep you hooked with this show. Sheesh! This first episode back after winter hiatus was so crazy and more so than usual.
First Laurel takes the blame for shooting Annalise in order to protect Wes, who seemed like he really wanted Annalise dead after she told him Rebecca was dead. Then we were fast-forwarded two weeks into the future when Annalise is arriving home from the hospital. Bonnie is trying to take care of her. Everyone else besides Asher and Wes are acting completely normal, having taco nights at Frank’s house or whatever. I guess they’re so used to lying and killing by now that it doesn’t affect them anymore. Laurel is trying her best to keep everyone together, secretly keeping track of Wes for Annalise.
Meanwhile, Annalise is supposed to testify against Catherine Hapstall since she framed Catherine for shooting her but unfortunately she’s been hallucinating and so the whole team comes up with a statement to be read in court except Annalise shows up anyway. Now by this point we have already seen Annalise’s hallucinations. She’s a woken by a young woman banging on her door. Annalise opens the door and the woman thrusts this baby into the arms of a still injured Annalise and runs off while Annalise is crying and screaming that she can’t take care of this baby. Bonnie comes over after she gets a call about this baby from Annalise and at that moment we realize it wasn’t real.
Bonnie mentions that this happened before? What’s up with that? So back to the courtroom. Annalise show’s up, talking crazy on the stand saying Catherine didn’t shoot her and somehow masterminds this whole plan for Catherine to say she was drugged by Philip and didn’t know what she was doing. How is it that Annalise, suffering from a gunshot wound and mental problems likely from pain medication, could STILL come up with something like this? I don’t get it. Later she returns home to find Wes lying in her bed and she thinks he’s dead because of a bottle of pills sitting on the nightstand. He wants to know about the whole “Christophe” thing and what she knew about his past and what the hell she had to do with any of it.
We are treated to a flashback of a PREGNANT Annalise meeting the same young woman she’d hallucinated earlier at the park. The woman was Wes/Christophe’s mom! So what the what? Annalise threatens Wes with a figurine of some kind, refuses to talk to him and he leaves. She calls out to him but he seems to have disappeared out of the house out of nowhere but then Annalise heres the baby cooing and picks him up. Now I’m questioning if Wes was ever there because we switched from reality to hallucination in the blink of an eye and also Wes got out of the house way too quickly.
Sheesh! So, like I said. Bananas. One thing this show is great at is making sure you want to stick around to see what happens because they set you up with the endgame usually and then you just HAVE to know how everything plays out to get to that point. I’m not sure how I feel about crazy Annalise. I’m gonna need a lot more information. Here are my questions:
- Is the hallucination baby Annalise’s’?
- What happened to her baby?
- Who is the baby daddy?
- What happened with Wes/Christophe and the mother?
- Why was everyone just hanging out at Frank’s house?
- When did Bonnie become the levelheaded one?
- WTH did I just watch?
Anywho, that’s about all I got for now. The rest of this season will likely be even more cray and I’m not sure where they could go for more seasons. I guess we shall see.
